I bought a  93 right after the import Bill passed. It was loaded with accessories. I was told it was one of the last few that made it in. I was reading the other day that the ones marked 5.56 were 1/7 twist. At one time I thought I possibly had a military barrel as it has a welded on flash suppressor. I was looking under forestock just now yo see if it said 1/7 as the article stated. I found a set of letters and another two what appears to be some kind of letters that were hard to photograph closer to the chamber. Can anyone give me some info on the barrel?

Looks like you have a standard 1:12 barrel. A 1:7 barrel is stamped "178". Most (but not all) HK93's with a 42 prefix serial number had the 1:7 barrels.

Without a 178 stamp and with a welded flash hider, I would say it's a 1:12 HK33 barrel.

It has the 42 serial number. It's an 88-89 gun best I can tell.

Measure it with a tight fitting patch and a cleaning rod. Figure out how many inches it takes to make a rotation.

Pics of the FH please? I never seen an import with one.

I should have taken a pic under better lighting while I had it out this morning. When I bought the gun right after import ban was told it was one of last few made it into country.

Unfortunately, you've ended up with the 1:12 barrel. I've seen 42 prefix guns with 1:12 barrels before. In the end, it's not a big deal unless you're shooting 75gr bullets.

I have plenty of both. I shot he gun a lot in the 90's and was sub MOA with 52 and 55. Have to look at targets to see how 62 did. Main reason I was interested is I have a a Tavor 1/7. Three AR's that are 1/7. I have accumulated a good Bit of 75 and 77 grain ammo and using it more.
Thanks for the  info. I had always assumed it was a 1/12 but read that info about serial number and just wanted verification from someone who knew.
