The FTE and the cocking handle are two seperate issues. Deal with the FTE as everyone has stated above, jack the front of the trigger box up to raise the ejector up into the slot in the bolt head. If your ejector isn't at the top of the groove it's just too low. If it is at the top of the groove and still not ejecting replace both the extractor and spring.

If I understand you correctly you are saying that when you pull the cocking handle lever open it is very hard to cock the rifle (almost as if the bolt isn't completely unlocking at first). I'm guessing that once you get the carrier moving it gets easier. If this is the case, it indicates that your cocking tube gap is too big and the cocking handle isn't getting the leverage it needs to completely open the bolt.

Just a thought.....but try some different ammo before comitting to a course of action......I have never owned a roller locked HK in either 7.62, 5.56, or 9mm that didn't hate at least one brand of ammunition......most of the time being some US manufactured commercial brand......try running some DAG, Port, SA, or Hirtenberger thru it and see what the results are.....

I might have figured this out. Give me a day or two to test a theory.

Again, thanks so much to all of you who have provided help and advise.

Looks like the issue is resolved, just fired five perfect rounds. Turns out it had the wrong trigger box installed. The guy I bought the gun from had multiple PTRs and HK91s. Turns out what was in the one he sold me was the trigger box from an HK91 (or 93?). We rendezvous today and swapped the trigger boxes. Not only are the rounds ejecting but the binding in the charging handle is gone.

Thanks so much for all your help, it helped to focus me on what was going on, leading to my swapped parts theory. I am sure with all of your advise I would have gotten it running, but I am glad the seller happened to be visiting my town and was determined to make this right.
