If you can still find them, the MKE AT-94K is very reliable. Made on H&K tooling in Turkey. I was able to pick one up for $1300 two years ago. They've stopped importing them into the country, so supply is dwindling. I would also recommend Dakota Tactical.

Another vote for the MKE. You can still find them on gun broker or on the EE. I had to replace the extractor and extractor spring on mine to make it 100% reliable. But for $30 in parts, mine runs like a sewing machine.

The K and the P models are pistols.
The P has the 16" barrel and is a full sized receiver. The K model is the K style receiver and pistol length barrel. Both are pistols, but one can be made a rifle without SBR paper work since it has the 16" rifle length barrel already installed (w/922r compliance). |

Yup, and from what I've read, stay away from the carbine version... |

No offense but I think that would be a horrible ccw. If you ever had to use it one you'd have to get it out of the case in time then two have fun explaining that to a jury of common folk in a criminal or at the very least civil trial.

The MP5K is a fun little toy but would be a crap CCW IMHO - twice the weight, at least twice the bulk of a pistol with the same exact barrel length. If you want it to be compact you are going to be using 15 rounders, so you are carrying a 4 lb 19" long weapon that has the same ballistics and capacity of a Beretta M92.

But if you must have one of these weapons I only have one recommendation. I was on the fence for many years about one of these. I wanted an SP-89 for what seems like decades. Given your stated parameters- quality, fit & finish, and the finest attention to detail I believe there is only one choice if you want to go top shelf- Dakota Tactical. Check out HKPRO for more on them. |

on the subject of MP5K clones, is the bellator arms copy any good?
I know that it has a non-fluted barrel, but aside from that $1,000 sounds like a good deal for an MP5K clone. Has anyone received any first hand experience with it's use? it's just going to be used as a beater, not something to show off, and I could care less about finish, as long as it runs well. |

My SBR MP5K with a Choate side folder is only 23" with the stock extended. The gun itself is more like 12" |

You can CCW the K if you use the Eagle Industries shoulder harness. Not the most practical during the summer months, but you could get away with it during the colder months.

Get a MKE or Turner Fab guns, forget DT. Turner guns with a German parts kit is the way to go.

Why would you say to forget Dakota Tactical? DT seems to be the industry standard right now.

There is nothing wrong with Dakota Tactical or Parabellum combat systems at all .. Nothing wrong with Turner either .. Let me tell you why i chose
Dakota Tacitcal. #1 reputation, #2 looking at pics of his builds and TALKING TO ACTUAL OWNERS. #3 Joe is super friendly and answered all my odd questions before placing hte order . #4 he is also man enough to admit he is SUPER busy and backlogged. BUT that happens when you are the only guy in the shop. ParabellumCombat Systems is also good to go . Same reasons . I just happened to at the time of build to contact Joe at DT first . I had prior to ordering sent ALL 3 emails about pricing and shipping etc . and only 1 never responded and that was Turner. Dont know what happened there but I felt confident in Joes work . ALSO Joe is an offical certified H&K armorer for just about everything they make , that was HUGE to me . He went to several courses this year alone to make himself a better gunsmith for his customers.... Honestly it pisses me off when people complain about cost of good quality work , or that they have to wait for their gun to be built.. |

User gm1854 is Gordon Miller from HKSpecialiststore.com, no?
If my homework is correct, I too would like to know why Gordon has beef with Joe and/or the products from Dakota Tactical. |
