I was going to sell my Imbel FAL, but really thinking that I might keep it. But, I'm not 100% happy with it. To make matters worse, I'm thinking about going in two completely different directions with it.

Do I buy another barrel for it, and take it back to 21", or do I buy a complete para lower end for it, and maybe shorten it to 16"? Sure, I need two FALs, but that just isn't in the cards right now.

ETA: the barrel is currently 17.2"

What's wrong with it?

Nothing at all, just thinking a change is in order.

Go for a para lower but keep the barrel.

If you must do something, just swap the lower.

I like It as is
but if you decide to change it up I would be interested in that rear sight and spacer

Do you want a para or full-size FAL?

You can still get Imbel kits with 21" barrels if you go that direction; DSA still sells para lowers, but keep the 17.2 if you go this direction.

Leave the barrel as-is, get a para lower and para rear sight.

Easy:

Get the para lower, leave the 17" barrel.

Definitely get a para lower and keep or shorten the barrel. My rifle felt so much more unwieldy when it had a 21".

I have a 21" para that I am about to get Moses to shorten.

Mine have great rifling and was probably shot very little.  I might be interested in a trade.

It'd be easier and cheaper to just change out the lower to a Paratrooper lower. I doubt it, but, you might be able to find an FN Paratrooper lower. Otherwise, just check DSA for one of their lowers.

I have two of DSA's aluminum lowers- one Para, one standard- and both are of very high quality.
