Is the inch-style selector still useful with the SAW grip installed, or does the change in the grip angle make such a modification extraneous?

I use the SAW grips and the DSA(L1A1 type) extended selector on most my FAL's.
These are 2 of my first changes to my regular shooters.

Same here. Those 2 changes are near-mandatory, IMO. I also replace the mag release with an Inch pattern, since I do mag changes with my left hand.

I do as well, but I just extend my right index finger to press the release and only grab the magazine with the left hand.

I wasn't sure about the inch style selector, as with the standard grip, while not ideal, I've never had a hard time with the selector.  IIRC, the selector was originally designed for a narrower grip angle used on the earliest FALs; seems like changing the grip angle might alleviate what issues might remain.  I haven't had a chance to try either out yet, separately or in combination.

I'm weird, I like the original grip. I do buy a Hogue slip over rubber piece for mine though because they do get slippery when wet.

I find the original FAL grips are at too steep an angle to be comfortable enough for me to use for extended range sessions.

The SAW grip is an improvement, but the Ergo grip is even better. Check it out if you haven't yet.

I love FALs, but the original grips are clearly designed for non-human beings.  The SAW grip doesn't look as nice, but is much more comfortable.  The inch pattern grip has a nicer angle than the metric's, but the shape is awfully square.

I have a SAW grip on an FAL with an 18" barrel. The balance is perfect on that rifle.

Just put the tapco SAW grip on mine and other than it feeling kinda cheap I haven't had a chance to try it out yet. Might look around for an actual M240 SAW grip as I understand the quality is better. The tapco only cost $10 so If I don't like it I'm not out much.
