Imbel/CAI that shot great with the military ammo that had projectiles pulled and reloaded, for some legal reason years ago.
Fast forward to recently, I took along a ammo can full of Indian '75 vintage, adjusted the gas to #5 and it functioned flawlessly.
BUT even as the setting was too weak to function, the recoil was horrendous.
I changed the 2 recoil springs, which were only 1/4 inch longer than the old ones, so I doubt that did much.
Nobody else wanted to shoot it after seeing me and after 40 rounds I was done too.
I know the later Indian ammo is crap, but '75 was supposedly OK...or is it hotter than normal?
What am I missing to look for ?

Yes, worked it until bolt locked back.
But it even bucked hard well before it did.
Like I said, the last ammo I had felt fine, also on "5".
I don't really want to bust open my battle packs of SA or Port to test it, but do have lots of GI de-linked that worked great in my M1a
Brass looked good, btw.

I'm due to tear it down for a good cleaning anyway and will be checking everything, thanks.
