This hopefully will be my Christmas purchase for myself.

Possible to build one or a clone?

I would really like a real parts kit build though.

Where to start?

FIFY. DSA is ok, but Coonan is the go to source for buying receivers for FAL builds.

Honestly both were fine. If you can find a Grayslake marked DSA receiver that would be a good one to build on.

Beat on rough or deliberately painted in a sloppy fashion just like the real ones?

Weren't the later Rhodies plain old Imbels?

There are kits available. Building is more fun IMO, but the market is soft for complete rifles, prices are low, buyers market for sure. Be vigilant in your search, you'll find something. Good luck!

Seems the place to ask.

When you see the old photo of the farmer and his family all loaded for bear and everyone over 11 years old has a FALN are they the real deal select fire or were there semi versions in private hands?
