Yes sorry, please forgive the newbie. I was looking at the Arsenal SGL21 AK earlier and am a little drunk with the "getting a new gun fever" right now I think.

Are all the DS Arms FAL's chambered in .308 or do they come in the higher pressure 7.62x51? Will they shoot both? Should I care whether not they'll shoot both?

FALs will shoot both. DS Arms may void your warranty if you shoot Russian steel-cased ammo through their rifles, so stick with brass. The difference between .308 and 7.62x51 is not enough to be a concern with a FAL, except that the FAL might not shoot the heavy 175-180 grain bullets well. Some FAL shooters have reported that soft-point rounds will occasionally get hung up when feeding from the magazine, while others have no problem.
I would personally look for a rifle built with genuine military parts, built on a quality receiver, before I'd give DS Arms any of my money. They are experiencing QC issues that are being(somewhat slowly for many people's taste..)addressed. |

as stated above.
My favorite FAL is the G1, and I know DSA use to make one, unsure if they still do though. |

find a parts kit and put your own together. Learning experience and not that hard to do. I's suggest a Coonan receiver as the last 2 receivers I've seen from DSA were out of spec.

Rolling your own is a lot of fun, but if you are just building one, its not worth it to buy the tools. If there is someone in your area with the build tools, go for it! Otherwise, its better to get an experienced FAL smith to build it for you.
I have always been a DSA fan, and used their receivers quite a bit, but I have heard reports (not internet rumors) from people i trust that their current builds are not on par with their older stuff. They are out of "kits" and building rifles now with their own manufactured parts. I would look at purchasing an already built rifle, or a kit and having it built. Sarco has brand new NOS Argentine kits for $550 or so, and a new Coonan Argie receiver will net you a brand new military grade FAL for less than the cheapest DSA. Davesrb |

Sounds like good sound advice. I have quickly come to realize that a clone is all ill be able to afford, and I'm not opposed to putting one together as has been suggested. Ill just need to look into FAL smiths that might do the job for me (for lack of tools). I might also entertain something from DSA, if I can find something made a couple years ago, "lightly"used

Search for a ban-era DSA STG85 that was made with all Steyr parts aside from the receiver. Less money, better gun.

There are excellent people there that know the F A L better than ol Dieudonne himself. And, as a bonus, there is a good probability that there is a FALFILES member in your area with the tools and expertise that would be glad to assist you in building an F A L. Also, the marketplace at FALFILES is an excellent place to shop for an F A L. If you need guidance, just ask. The folks over there will give you good counsel. |

My favorites would be a current DSA Para Carbine or if you can find one a GreyWolf from mid-2000's era.

Since we're showing off our FALs... My 1967-dated Israeli light-barrel FAL, built on an Entreprise Arms 'Israel Match' receiver. I've had it 9 years now but it rarely gets shot much anymore due to ammo costs. |
