THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
Purchased NIW in the mid 80's as an investment. Never fired and stored in a thick coat of Brownells Cosmoline.

With DSA in the picture, it will never be worth the big bucks I expected after the import ban. Anyway, I figured I would put it to good use. With a battle pack of Port, I went to a private range with my M1A tote'n friends. After a long lunch with extensive jabbering by me on how the FAL was as far as you can take the 7.62. Recoil impulses and all the other BS. I loaded up went prone. "CLICK" Rack "CLICK"

Light strike on the primer. MY friends after they stopped laughing. Fired the rounds with no problem. So its not ammo.

I figure its a weak hammer spring. One friend said it could be a short chamber, almost keeping it out of battery.

I priced a service spring kit from DSA. Thank God someone has parts! Before I order does anyone have any suggestions?

She was stored assembled, hammer down.

Might check to see if the firing pin channel is not restricted with cosmoline.

Take the bolt all the way down and make sure there is nothing slowing down the forward movement of the firing pin. Either that or maybe the pin is broken or defective. If your getting the hammer to drop with enough force it should fire. Interested in trading for an AR10.
Life is too short to be that stupid.

Fireing pin is fine. Plenty of protrusion with finger pressure. I took the bolt apart and washed it in Gun scrubber. Still wouldnt fire.

No thanks on the trade. It's a Massachusetts preban and worth a large chunk of change (still) unfired.

Then it probably isn't going all the way in to battery. Make sure the chamber is clean and get yourself an extractor removal tool and check the headspace.
