Israel came up with their own beveled closed type in the 60s. The Brits, Aussies, and Argentines stayed with the older open type. |

Do you know where i can find similar wood? The Holland butt-stock on my rifle is ultra rare, so not much of a chance to find one like it. The forearm is from a Canadian C1A1 FAL. These can be found but it will be hard to find one in excellent condition. Your best bet is to buy the repro stuff if you want really nice looking wood. There are a couple of companies making reproduction FAL wood furniture (see link). If you don't care about scratches and dings, I'm sure you can look over on FAL Files Forums and find some well used original wood. http://ironwooddesigns.com/IWDHome.html |

Supposedly the FAL I just bought was reviewed in some gun rag. I believe it given the history I have with the store I got it from.
$950 OTD, hope I did well.
I stripped the Afgan pattern Duracoat off all the metal parts. I can't stand painted guns. |

Built this one out of spare parts I had laying around.
The barrel was from a Rhodesian parts kit I bought from Federal Arms Corp 10 years ago. It had been cut with a chopsaw right behind the muzzle threads. I cut it back to 17" and crowned the muzzle. ![]() |

A few new pics of my old Izzy...
The last pic is of my mag carrier, an old Chinese Type 63 chest pouch. I bought it from a FAL Files member many years ago and hit it with a little spray paint. Definitely an old-school method of carrying mags... ![]() |

My locking shoulders were shipped to the wrong address so i had to have them express mailed to make sure they got here in time. Got out to test the gun for the first time today.

First FAL pattern rifle, for which I have lusted since I was... probably 12
I spent a lot of time looking for pics of one with a PWS FSCFAL muzzle device. So hopefully this will help anyone thinking of getting one. Just got the rifle, stripped and cleaned (a lot of greasy crud, now gone). It was someone's kit build on a DSA receiver and I got some help from an industry guy on this forum (much appreciated) getting a minor issue with the takedown lever squared away. Yet to fire it though... can't wait.
