here is my second build.  its an izzy clone.  with an imbel rec. HB handguards and LB stock (i know its a mix breed)  US parts: saw grip, tapco gas piston, fse h/t/s, floorplates, and short belgian brake.

Sorry to say, I sold this little beauty for want of another AR.........I miss her so.  BUT, I did just build a PARA! (pics coming soon)  AND!  I ordered my AR kit today

OK,

Here's an Imbel on Imbel that I just finished today for a former co-worker.  It's a Dan's Grade II kit I had sitting around.  The receiver timed at 10:00, which seems to be the norm of late.  It's a real shame these kits have been difficult to find lately, they are very nice.

I've already removed this original furniture and replaced it with a Century U.S. set.  That is an RPB fake brake on there, too.  I told him I'd put the original flash hider on in Sept if he desires.  It came in just under $530 with the necessary U.S. parts.

I painted it with 1200 degree black ceramic engine paint from Autozone.  I like it better than Alumahyde, which I also use.

Jim

Is that thing NFA or do you just have fast fingers?

EDIT:  Might as well post pics.  My favorite rifle of all time and my SHTF rifle.  Refinished, reworked Century STG58 on an "R1A1" Imbel receiver.  These are old scans of prints, I need to take new pics with my digicam.

its SA.  if youve never shot a heavy barrel FAL. you need to.  the weight of the barrel cuts recoil in half and allows you to throw 20rds (or 30) downrange in about 3 seconds.  and you can actually hold a very good group!........hence the big goofy

here's my two.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v427/wulf50guy/l1a1.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v427/wulf50guy/fal.jpg

They were both from Century. Would love to eventually get one from DSA though.
They both have r1a1 on the receivers but the one with all the goodies on it says it has a hesse receiver and has centurian 58 stamped on it.
From what I've read I must have been lucky with both of these because they both function perfectly. On;y time I had a problem was the first time I took them out gettting broken in.

Let me know what you think.

wulf, where did you get the mag that's on your first gun?  My STG58 would like one.

DSA has them..
They are the L4A1 mags just have to specify metric or inch. and whether you want new or used.
Ihaven't checked in a while but they may have'em listed on the website www.dsarms.com
The both versions are available in new or used codition.
The first one I got ( USED ) had a broken spring in it but I called and talked to them and they replaced it no charge and apoligised for the trouble.
The one I got back Is great condition and functions perfectly after I took it apart and did my usual clean and light oil.

Here's mine:

It's built up from an STG58 kit w/imbel receiver.  She might not look like much but she shoots like a dream - and that's all that matters!  Sorry about the background too.

Nice jmolden87, I like 'em.
Don't feel bad about the background , mune's not exactly the most manly in the world either.
And your right, as long as you are happy with it thats all that really counts.

I like the saw parts, cnatra.
Actually the cheek welds not too bad. Takes a little getting used to at first but really not to far off for me.
Actually the flip up brace on the back really helps when you shoulder it up. Kind of helps you put it right in line if your lying down or shooting with the bipod down.

Yeah, it's kinda funny really...  I never actually knew what the pattern on the sheets was made up of until I took that picture.

Just a basic DSA Standard. I wish I would have had the magazine in for the pic and spaced them out more so I could crop out the ones I didn't want to show.
