Garand Gas Pressure & Ammo

If you want to evaluate & compare commercial ammo vs mil spec ammo in the Garand, here is some decent reading and data.  It is also about selling a product, but I found the article informative.

One easy bottom line for me (that I already knew) - avoid commercial ammo with 180 gr and heavier bullets.  Meanwhile, stories about what ammo will damage the operating system are sometimes overblown (pardon the pun).

Right. As long as you don't go crazy I don't see what the trouble is. I bought a garand gear plug just to see what it was about. I only really ever shoot HXP and light commercial stuff like corelokt 150s to shoot pigs or deer or whatever. No issues yet. I know what the data says, but I still feel like its bad voodoo to put something like superformance in a garand. Warranted or not, I feel like i shouldn't do it.
