I love my Springfield M1A Socom 16. It has the forward mount on it, but that moves my aimpoint too far forward.

What is the best mount to mount the aimpoint pro to that rifle? Has anyone tried the GG& G mount?

I'd like the aimpoint to have about the same eye relief as it does on my AR15.

I'd try an Ultimak M8 rail...

I have one on my Scout Squad.

I had one and didn't like it.  I actually want the Aimpoint closer to my eyes like on an AR15.

You could use an M14.ca CASM mount, but i am leery of replacing my rear sight with a rail block.

If that fails, then just stick with a Brookfield type scope mount.

An ARMS 18 scope mount with an Aimpoint using a low scope ring is the lowest possible you can go (without using a forward scope mount).

That looks great. I'll check it out.

Anyone use the GG&G mount?

The ARMS #18 is what you seek. Buy a new-style mount and send it to Tony at Warbird Customs to be machined into the old split-rail style. Mount Aimpoint and enjoy the best setup for a red-dot on an M1A money can buy.

It will look like this and be the tool of choice for use on pesky hogs from 30 to 300 POA-POI.

I have a pro on my 1993 standard.  I bought an Arms #18 split rail mount from a member here.  It works like a charm.
