Honestly...my last service Grade was pretty much a special.

Waiting on one more. When the flood gates open I may drop down for the other 10 I'm owed and call it quits.  Pray to the m1 gods that cmp will give me that one h&r if I go for the dirty dozen in the year.

K1- You order sgs, fgs, or a mix?

All FG this time around.  In 2010 I ordered 12 SG.

Worst barrel was a MW/TE of 3+/4+, the best was 1+/1+, so I'd say they averaged out at 2-3 for MW/TE with all but 1 or 2 of them being WWII barrels.  Got 3 or 4 sets of lock bars on these rifles, 1 very clearly marked GAW (if my memory serves correctly) stock.  The wood on some is kind of rough but what I would expect on a FG rifle.  Finish wise they kind of run the gambit from original to redone.  I know one receiver has some light pitting on the heel, but I won't really know how any of them are in that department until I pull them out of their stocks and detail inspect them.

I think only one of the 12 is a HRA. So not great odds.

http://forums.thecmp.org/showthread.php?t=193057  Can't hotlink from my phone but there's my thread on CMP forums. I will make a thread here as well once I get further into it.

Why so many?

Pick one or more of the following

Because I can

Because I like them

Because I collect WWII era firearms

Because the CMP is still selling them

Because it's an investment for the future

Because I enjoy WWII history and the M1 Garand is one of the most iconic firearms of the era

Because it makes liberals cry and piss their pants that I can have these sent directly to my home (along with any other C&R guns I want)

Because I don't gamble at casino's, and in this form of gambling I always win something worth more than what I spend (open market value).

Because the number I need is always currently 1 more than I currently own

Because it's our patriotic duty to give these old veterans a home because #vetslivesmatter

Some people collect things like coins, stamps, magazines, toy cars, action figures, comic books, old books, maps, ect.  I collect guns from the 1800s to current day

I'm an idiot and just trying to get into the M1 side of the hobby. Does anybody have a clue as to when they will start taking orders again? I saw in the store that everything was sold out except for the sniper versions. I would love to get a couple of field or service grades at some point.

It'll be when it will be. Sign up for their newsletter and you will get notified when they will start accepting orders again. Do yourself a favor and pay for flat rate/priority for your order so you know when it makes it. You'll be holding your breath waiting if you don't, and I fully expect a "run" on them as soon as they open orders again because there have been so many false/wild rumors surrounding their "sold out" status.

Well to be fair, their own website where you actually place the orders for them does specifically say "Sold Out,"

I started getting nerdy with it and posted some pics as well as detailed parts break downs over at CMP forums.  Click HERE.

That's just my initial going through.  I will be detail stripping, cleaning, and lubricating/preserving all of them in the next month or so.  On the rifles with little finish left I'll probably end up getting some museum wax for their metal just to keep any new rust from developing.

Man that sucks!  Makes for a long weekend.  Monday you should get a shipping notice and your SN should be posted.  Normally, and this is including recent times, you get a CC hit then the next business day it ships out.  Hopefully you'll have it by Tuesday.

probably because K1 took all the goddamned fields!!!

LOL I'm sure their shipping department cursed me under their breaths when they saw the order come in.

I did get one rifle that almost seems like someone was trying to build a NM style rifle at a local level.  Bedded WWII stock (2 rebuilds) with a very tight fit, WWII barrel with 1+/1+ readings and a very tight gas tube and hand guard, and the trigger is very crisp right at 4.5#.  Just missing a NM front and rear sight to be ready to rock and roll IMO.

About the same time frame as mine and it changed to processing today with the cc hit yesterday with a pending. You should be seeing it soon.

Tallest and I sent similar orders in on the same day.  Both of them arrived with in a day of each other and both orders seemed to have been slightly misplaced at CMP for a while so we will see how fast they get filled.  (My order was read to quickly by the processing department and they forgot to notice that it was for a service grade rifle and not just a guy randomly sending in his club affiliation so he could do an estore order in the future....)

I don't give a shit how long it takes.  If I get two rifles with non-reparked receivers and GI wood I will be fucking ecstatic.

Did they add a case to your order yet? They haven't on mine, still says pending and it's still just showing a pre-authorization on my CC but nothing has moved in almost a month.

I'm the opposite, I just want a Garand and don't care if it's matching or reparked or original or has seen action. I'll be happy with whatever I get provided I can shoot it.

I don't buy guns I can't shoot. Well, except for my father's H. Aston 1842 Percussion Cap pistol; but mainly because I don't think I'll be able to get it to the point where it can be safely fired.
