Recently bought 2 Garands from CMP. One was a 6 digit Springfield with all matching parts except the OP Rod which is an HRA.

I also have a Service grade HRA Garand with a SA OP Rod. Can I switch them without any issues or is it like the bolt and needs to be headspaced?  Ive been reading the HRA op rod is more rare. Any truth to this?

Also looking for a Garand GURU for more questions someone I can email or IM on here. Any Suggestions

Fixed it for ya.

And yes, he's correct.

HRA op rods aren't any more rare or unusual than any other post-war op rod.

Thanks!

That's what I get for typing while at work.  I blame the highly un-ergonomic workstation!!

Yes you can swap them but that wont make your SA rifle correct just because it has a SAop rod. t has to be tghe correct SA op rod ofr the serial of the receiver

I would not say the HRA op rod is more valuable.  Springfield made more rifles but HRA is one that is often a similar price to a Springfield.  Now if it was an IHC you would have hit a small jackpot.  As stated just because the parts say Springfield does not make them correct.  Remember Springfield made rifles from pre WWII to slightly past the Korean War.  The CMP forums truly is the best place to find information on correct parts.  The duff books also help.  Be careful though, Garands are addicting!

You can get the same info here as you can on CMP forum, just need to post drawing numbers of the parts
