Dear board,

I found a couple of wrapped M14 mags and wonder if anyone might be able to identify them via the wrappers?  I wonder if they are CMI magazines, or, if the 3-62 is a date stamp, if they are something earlier.

Edited to add ... or alternatively, some sort of counterfeit?

Any assistance would be appreciated!

Looks legitimate to me.  The magazines should be marked OM.

Well, curiosity kills cats, and also opens mag wrappers.  I opened one up.  Nice call, Different.  Thanks kindly.  They are Olin-Mathieson mags and seem to have fared their last 53 years fairly well.  Foil-wrapped inside the outer brown paper wrap.  Tiny bit of rust on the bottom corner of the one I opened, covered in white crystalline specks that are presumably rust inhibitor. They have the characteristics of those featured in Emerson's superb guide, OM marked followers too.

Good call on opening them.  They rust inhibitor stuff only last so long.

Oh and Different is almost as smart as Lee Emerson.     [Diff=L.E.]

Not to be confused with Peter Parker.

Well, I don't know Peter Parker!

I found some more of these, some variety, so started a new thread here  https://www.ar15.com/forums/t_6_6/454687_.html&page=1

Oh yes, the marvel comics character Spider Man was Peter Parker in "real life."  Brain fart on my part!

At work we used to sometimes jerk around with co workers leaving phone message slips with goofy names.

One of the funniest ones was a guy was left a message to call and ask for Harry Lyons.  The phone number was the zoo's.

"A 3-62" is the level of preservation and the pack date.

Level A, per MIL-P-117 is the highest level of pack designed for serious long term protective storage.

Packed in March of 1962 (3-62)

Assume, but not sure, that "OM" is the manufacturing code for Olin Matheson.
