Sorry if this is one of those weekly questions.

What bayonet or bayonets are correct for a WW II or Korean era Garand.

Thanks,  Motor

Good info from the CMP.

Early on they had some of the original "long" blades like would have been used on the M1903 Springfield.  By midway into WWII they had been shortened to the 10" version, and by Korea they used a 6" version that is similar to the M6 for the M14 and M7 for the M16.

All of the below are correct for the M1 Garand during it's service life.

M1905  (1936-1942)

M1905E1 (1943-1953)

M1 (1943-1953)

M5 (1953-  )

During the Korean war they used the left overs of WW2.

IIRC the 1905E1 and the M1 would be the ones in the crates and already issued.  I don't think they would have had the M5 in the field on time.  Kind of like the IHC and H&R Garands, yea they were making them but they didn't get there during the war.

Google Korea war infantry pictures and look at what they have as you carefully look at the pics.

If you see a bayonet that looks like the first two but is cut to 6", it apparently was not done by the US military. Nobody seems to know for sure where the 6" cut downs came from but I've read a lot of people think it was done by Korea. These were everywhere in the 90s for $15-$20(Smoky Mountain Knife Works sold a bunch) and lately are showing up again. They'll "fit" but are not correct if US issue is the look you're going for.
