I bought a Marlin 60 on my honeymoon, and I wanted to dress it up like a Garand to give to my son when he is old enough.

I'm a machinist so I can machine a few things here and there, but really didn't want to spend a bunch of money on such a cheap rifle.

Where should I look to get some cheap parts like the front and rear sights, gas cylinder and screw, stock bands, ferrules .etc

I can clean them up and paint them if condition is poor.

No such thing as cheap Gaand parts. You might ask around for junk worn Garand parts since they will only be used for show

E-Bay occasionally will have miscellaneous Garand parts.

The CMP used to have, but I haven't checked lately.

As mentioned, they won't be cheap.

Sounds like a fun project.

Throw a pair of Tech-Sights on that 60, you get a fully adjustable rear peep sight and an "eared" front sight that both look M1 GI and very functional.  Huge difference in accuracy, at least with my tired eyes.  No drilling etc, installation of about 5 mins.

Seller named Frodawg on ebay, libertytreecollectors, numerich are all worth a look.  You never can tell what you might find.

Your son will remember that gun forever, kudos to you.

I have a better idea.  Why don't you buy a Garand receiver instead?

And as you son grows, gather up the rest of the parts.  And when he is ten or so, build a Garand with him.  (I love this idea so much that if you were in Canada, I would give you a receiver)
