Thanks for all the help over the last couple weeks in making my decision. I bought this Garand from a member here, mid 50's HRA with GI stock. I feel my life is more complete now

ETA: This is my first Garand

Congrats!  They are nice to have.   Something just feels right about holding one.

The M1 delivers its fired rounds onto targets with unmistakable authority.
After the pop pop pop of other rifles, the M1 demands attention with BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM ping.

Good looking purchase

Congratulations on your first Garand

I don't know if you've shot it yet, but if it goes anything like my first time firing a Garand be ready to be brought back in time wondering what the history of the rifle was like. There are times when I still feel very humbled when I shoot mine.

I really like the detail of the stock ... particularly the vertical dark area. Is it smooth to the touch?

Thanks folks! the stock is smooth, and you can feel the little bits of grain. I'm digging it. I hope to shoot it next week.

Great looking rifle!!!  I've wanted one for a very long time.

Have you done any research on it's history.  Any interesting provenance?

It's just as nice, or nicer in person too !

The barrel bore looks new.

The metal is in great condition with a nice, dark and evenly
applied park.

My Boy did good !!

Dad is proud

You should be proud.  But have you ordered a Garand lately?   If not, you must order one at once.  Don't disappoint your son.

Well, there is a NIB James River Rockola M14F on it's way to my FFL as I write this.
So at least I'm doing my part to get some more wood and steel rifles in the safe.
