I know Tom's wax mix is highly recommended as a wax based coating to refinish stocks but has anyone used the Stock cleaner recipe he has listed? I am considering using it on my new CMP M1D that arrived.... I have three days of leave left before I hop on a plane to Japan again.

One application in, definitely cleans the surface crap, I just need to get the deeper stuff too. The stock only has a circle P so I'm not too worried about it, I just like to clean em then apply BLO coats. I put a new boyds walnut on my VAR Dane m1 and it looks gorgeous with the BLO.

Unfortunately I can't... I'm back in japan. After two applications of the stuff I gotta say it didnt clean the stock near as much as expected but it was great to use since it cleaned and coated with linseed oil. Being pressed for time limited the time I could put in the stock.

I'm a little late to the game and while I own a can of 1/3 I haven't used it yet.. It's not going to 100% clean the stock. If you want a clean stock you'll have to strip it down.. Apply several coats of linseed then top it off with toms... At least thats what I plan on doing after another coat or 2 of linseed (I'm using pure raw linseed so it takes awhile)

I was using the 1/3 mix for cleaning/coating. I do need to buy the 1/3 mix wax though.

unfortunately I wont be able to compete (I get back from Japan next september) and I am keeping an eye out for a scope/mount combo at a good price (no repros)
