Wow! Talk about just getting in under the wire.
Glad to hear you made it, man. Sorry to hear they are out, but it was going to happen eventually. |

It makes me wonder now about the Korean shipment. If and when that comes through, wonder if there will be any good ones in it? I've also heard that it will not be CMP selling them but other dealers, makes you wonder what their price will be!
I also saw that the only Greek mil-surplus 30-06 ammo they had left was in 200 round loose lots in ammo cans! I guess all good things must come to an end! |

Orrest said in "Ask Orrest" on the CMP website forum that the Service Grade Specials will be sold out in a few months too.

Thanks for the heads up. Because of it I finally got off my duff and sent in my notarized paperwork Priority Mail for a Special Grade M1 Garand. This is model where they build up an original M1
Garand Springfield receiver, install a new production Criterion barrel, new
production American Walnut stock and handguards, re-parkerize the whole rifle so it looks new, and add a cotton reproduction web sling.
I'm going to order a NM front sight and rear aperture from MidwayUSA for it because of how well they're working out on my M1A. My son and I have been debating getting a dedicated shooter M1 Garand so that we could retire the Correct Grade HRA because it's in such great shape and it just keeps going up in value. This news was the final tipping point to 'do the deed' so now the wait begins. BTW, I also noticed on their website that they are selling Special Grade M1 Garands in .308 for $995 too. Only downside of getting this is that now we'll feel no compulsion to limit the round count on the new Garand and so with both of us shooting them, my 4K worth of components I have on hand for them will dwindle rather quickly. Oh well, there's a good and bad side to that; the good side is that we get to have the fun shooting and then handloading some more and the bad side is that I'm going to have to spend money to replace the components more often. Such is life. |
