Cut 1.75" off the butt-stock, moved the butt-plate retainer to retain the factory folded retention knob.  Now maybe I'll add an Ultimak rail and mirco red-dot sight.

LOP is just under 12" now.  Thinking about fabricating an Aluminum adapter for the pistol grip so I can use an AR grip.

Very nice, wish I could shorten mine like that.  How do you like your rear sight?

Did you have to alter your gas system to get your rifle to run? I'm considering filing a Form 1 and sticking an AC556 front sight with a 12" barrel on my gun.

With the size of the standard gas bushing on Minis, I'm betting the standard one will work just fine with just about anything.

It's much better than the factory sight. I didn't change the gas setting it runs fine.

Hah, you just cost me $200.

Any recommendations on a good smith experienced with the mini platform to cut, thread, and crown?

In my experience, the Mini 14 is built so overgassed, you could probably cut 3" off the barrel and it would not affect the reliability.
I cut almost 1 7/8" off of my Mini 14 barrel and it runs with all types of ammo with no failures at all.

Edit; beautiful job Banger!!

You got major cajones to cut a factory folder. Very cool package. The new Mini's look great in that stock. Got a M30 sitting in a factory folder myself.

I bought it during the magazine shortage, the guy only had one mag for it.  I traded 10 Pmags for it, so the rifle only cost me $130 so I figure I can afford to cut it up

...and so it begins, again!

I'm going to match the factory wood profile and transition into an AR grip.  Using an old MOE grip I had, but will be using a "K-grip" when it gets delivered.  I'll try to keep this thread updated as I progress.

Amen!  I wouldn't cut my factory folder - I would be afraid of George Peppard's ghost to come after me

The go for $500 or more on ebay!

Almost there!

Just needs 12 hours in the deburring machine, black dura-coat and the new K-grip!

Very good looking work. Does the gap between the trigger guard and grip block allow for the removal of the FCG while in the stock?

Yes, I milled it to match the stock inletting for the trigger guard. I will have to modify the grip as the adapter guard is about 1/10th lower than an AR guard

Yes, but does your brass still go into the next zip code?  Is it still a Mini if it doesn't?  Hmm

Brass, what brass?  This gun rides in my truck and when I need it I don't give a f#ck where the brass goes as long as it's ejected.  Honestly, I haven't had any issues with this rifle, other than the "hard core" Ruger guys getting pussy hurt because I cut it up and made it what it should have been to start with!

Mr. T would pity the fool that doesn't think this Mini-14 rocks!

So how much would you charge us to duplicate this marvelous transformation (sans barrel, or course)?

As this was a "custom one-off" it would cost you around $600 (sans barrel shortening) to convert your Ruger factory folding stock.  Every part was custom fitted and re-finished to look original.  I am not currently seeking custom gunsmith work, but if you REALLY want this you can PM me.!

Or you could just buy my Mini-14!

I've always wished ruger would bring this stock back.  I remember going to gunshows and stores with my dad in the early 90s and these always caught my eye, even before I knew what they were.  Awesome gun
