Recently my dad passed away and he left me his mini because he hated that I was an AR guy. So, I decided to make the rifle a little more personal to me since he loved it so much

I did this with a laser engraver at my inlaws shop. I am still trying to decide if I want to make it black or go red and gold on it.

Thanks.

I do like the black, and will probably keep it this way. i wanted to keep it simple and in the last 10 or so years he had taken pride in his service in the corps and in Vietnam. This is why I burned the EGA into it also.

That's really cool and tasteful.  I wouldn't change a thing.  Sorry for your loss.

Here is another picture that shows the depth that I cut into the wood. I love this laser cutter!  I can write on a rose peddal or cut thin steel with it!

he did.

He left Vietnam in 74 and finished his time in the Corps then got into construction.  While in construction he was exposed to all kinds of nasty stuff and was a smoker since he was 15.  Long story short, he had an advanced form of COPD and an advanced lung cancer.  He only lived 7 months once he was diagnosed, but he lived that 7 months to the fullest, moving back home to live near my sister and I and with his grand kids.
