THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/1303100_Ruger_suspends_new_orders.html I also think it is generally good news: interest in guns is up, Ruger's doing well & maybe the economy is turning around too. |

The economy is not turning around, it is good news for RUGER though. Barry is a very good salesman of firearms when you think of it. |

I always like to hear about a good gun company doing well.
BTW - does everyone know that Ruger's casting plant (pine-something or other) does a LOT of casting for other firearms manufacturers? Hopefully Ruger will invest the money they make wisely. Next SHOT show might be very interesting! |

Sounds like I now know why my GSR is taking so long. At least it gives me time to save before I order the 10-22 I want.

Kind of off topic, but not completely... In January of 2010 I put a relatively large chunk of money aside for the sole purpose of buying Ruger and Smith & Wesson stock shares. Being a novice at actually purchasing stocks I ended up getting dicked around by the brokerage firm for a few weeks and finally took it as s sign and put my money back where I had it before. At the time, RGR was trading at just over $15 a share and SWHC was trading at just under $2.50 a share if I remember correctly...
Ruger closed today at a tad over $51 and Smith closed at $8.10... ![]() ![]() ![]()
Needless to say I'm a little disappointed in my inability to follow my own advice as well as the advice of that funny little baby in the E-Trade commercials... That was about a $30,000 mistake for me at this point... |

Product availability is still not all that great. Several local shops are sitting on stacks of back orders for different Ruger products- everything from SR1911's to GSR's to takedown 10/22's. It won't get better. There is no way with Obamacare looming that anyone is going to be gung ho to put on a shit load of new workers. They will continue to pay overtime to the folks they have and make as much as they can.

No other single gun company offers such a variety of firearms, that appeal to such a broad customer base. Whether it be tactical rifles, 1911's, double action wheelguns, bolt action hunting rifles, African dangerous game rifles, or single action cowboy revolvers, Ruger pretty much has your interests covered. About the only thing that I can think of that they don't produce is shotguns, and they only recently discontinued doing that.

Yup, and they're pretty good at it all too.
