It looks very nice, but I would have to shorten the barrel a little to hide the operating rod.

Me too, that thing is cool, looks like it would be a PITA to disassemble, but i think the cool factor outweighs that

Yep, I'm in line for one of these! Ruger should take note...

Someone should take note and come out with a .22LR "Garand". They could later re-use the tooling and add a .22LR "M14", "BM59", and "Tanker Garand" to the list of offerings and sell them as fast as they could be built.

If you shortened the barrel it prob wouldn't need that stuff on the end of it.

Seeing as how the stuff on the end is the gas system, shortening the barrel to get rid of it effectively negates the reason for buying this model, if you don't like the stuff on the end save your time and money and buy a regular Mini, or a Ranch Rifle.

The big questions are who built it and what does it shoot like ?

With the thin barrel of the Mini14, it's likely to be a disaster in accuracy when it heats up.
Don't get me wrong, I use my Mini14 Ranch Rifle a lot. I really like it.
The above is probably a disaster in the accuracy department.

I was thinking that it would stiffen up the barrel and keep the flex down.

That is not a Mini 14 gas system hanging out in front of the stock. The Mini 14 gas system is contained in the gas black and under the hand guards.

In this pic, the Mini-14 gas system was replaced with the M1 gas system, there is no mini-14 gas system under the handguards
or are you just being sarcastic

Your right! I just glanced at the pic and didn't notice the gas system.
That really seems like it would create more barrel stresses at the end of the barrel. Idk?

Adding weight to the end of the Mini barrel helps dampen vibration and reduce barrel whip. Also I suspect putting the gas port closer to the muzle delays the onset of operation possibly reducing whip further.

To my eye the the rifle in the pic looks like it has a heavier than standard barrel too.

very aware of that, seeing as how I have one. What I was saying is that if you shortened the barrel to "get rid of the stuff on the end" you might as well have a factory mini-14 gas system, at which point you might as well get a factory mini-14

I suspect this is the main reason for the conversion, which would make sense.

With a bit more modification, it could take a 21" bayonet! On a Mini-30, that would be a hog gun.

Or maybe with some modifcation to the wood handguard from a M1 Garand one could install a 21'' barrel.
I bet that would look bad ass!
