New 583 Series Ranch Rifle with Choate HG painted brown, SOCOM length
Strut, Mini-200 Rear Sight, Ruger 20rd mags, Wilson 1911 buffers, M1
Carbine sling, 'lightened' safety, polished sears, and GWG's .045" gas
bushing. Cycling force is considerably softened and accuracy is good
with my 62grn handloads; bowling pins at 200yds off the bag are dead
meat even though I'm just using irons.
BTW, I've got 3 ARs (2 lightweight middies and a long range, scoped A4) if I want to get real precision. This Ruger is for plinking as well as for my wife and daughter to shoot as they don't like the bulky size of the AR's action and are more comfortable with their Ruger 10/22s or my M1 Carbines. Besides, I like the configuration of a classic wood and steel rifle better than the AR. Yes, the ARs are more accurate, more modular, just more. . . . but I still like the traditional lines better.
