I'm in the process of building a 9mm SBR on a PSA Glock lower but had some questions on what upper I should go with. I was looking at a 5-5.5 inch barrel length because I wanted to attach an Octane to suppress it, but didn't want it to be a dedicated host for it either. What is everyone's experience with which upper/length they prefer? I'm open to all suggestions.

That length works for me

I'm happy with my 8" barrel to get the best trade-off of velocity vs. length, and with an LWRC UC stock it's still fairly compact.  Even with a suppressor it's a nice sized package overall.

Seanquigley- Where is your upper from?

My upper startied out as a 10.5" PSA upper.
I sent it to Rudi (Mad Machinist) he cut the barrel down, I cut the handguard down to fit the shortened barrel.

I would keep it in the 4.5 to 5.5 inch range. I would build your own upper so you can get exactly what you want.

I like my 5.5". I would say build your own, you get exactly what you want. Mine is a VLTOR upper with a QC10 barrel and SLR rail.

Still waiting on my stamp. I built mine to get what I wanted(side charger) and went with a 4" barrel. If I'm going short, I'm going short.

I built my own upper with an 8" NFA barrel, a stripped upper I had in the parts bin and a cheap rail I cut down. The lower is an 80% NFA that takes glock mags. It will have a form 1 suppressor on it in the near future.

I couldn't decide, so I got a 3.5" rear charging upper and a 7.5" side charging upper.

3.5"

7.5"

TROS 5" 3-Lug with a slick side upper like the CMT UPUR-4 is pretty cool.  The build shown below is with a Quintin Defense upper. ..but CMT is similar, less expensive, and lighter:

You're probably right, but it doesn't say so on the site.

Yea I had a matrix side charge for my 9mm Glock AR I sold a lil while ago. But never saw that color.

I'm just starting to build another Glock style 9mm ar but this time a little better than last. But def going side charge. Loved that.

Gonna do compact as hell this time (prev was 4.5" barrel) along with a pdw stock.

I took this right after completing the build.  It has a red dot on it now:

DDLES lower, LWRC UCIW stock, heavybuffers.com buffer, Quarter Circle 10 bolt, TROS 5" 3 lug barrel, RRA 9mm upper, OdinWorks handguard, Octane 9 with Griffin 3 lug adapter.
Definitely build it yourself.

I'm kicking it old school and went with this:

It will be cut to 9-3/4" or so and used with a set of fixed sights.

I want it to be more carbine-like than PDW.

I like your style!

Mine has a 5" barrel, QC10/Vltor upper. I'm about to make a 6" can that reflexes 3" over the barrel, so the end result will be almost identical. I Cerakoted mine Tungsten as well.

I love my 5.5in from Macon Armory. Runs great both suppressed and unsuppressed.
