Which of these would you pick and why?
Cabelas is running a sale on the Evo for $729 right now and it had me thinking about getting one. If I got an 9mm AR Id probably go with a cmmg rifle and chop it once my stamp came. |

Evo is designed out of the gate to be 9mm. It (will at some point in the future) has(ve) a folding stock for a more compact footprint. It looks like a space gun. It's cheaper.

The Scorpion looks like a neat little gun.
They even have 922(r)/SBR kits for them...$200+$729+$200 for the stamp...not too bad. |

I went with the scorpion because A) it's different, B) side charging, and C) more compact without the buffer tube.
Just my .02. |

I have the Mil/LEO reps info at my office. I met him at the IALEFI conference earlier this year. I shot a full auto suppressed EVO there along with a full auto Bren. I can send you his contact info tomorrow if you would like. The EVO was a pretty slick setup, and I plan on picking one up soon. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

In the end, the PSA was actually cheaper. If I had to pick one ... I dunno. They are both reliable and accurate enough. I'd probably pick the AR just because it's an AR, but I don't think you can pick wrong in this scenario. If you want the CZ get the CZ and don't look back. |

You have to pick up the gun from the dealer because you ordered it. That's a straw purchase. Not getting into that argument here. Anyways, I am not opposed to an AR in 9mm but will probably choose an MPX over that if I decide to get another 9mm carbine. |

MPX is only a couple hundred more in pistol form. Short stroke piston >>> blowback.
|
|
|
I like that I'm not eating a bunch of gas when shooting my evo suppressed. Can't say the same about my AR SBR.
MPX would have been better if they didn't use a proprietary AR type charging handle. I would have gotten the MPX if not for those two factors. |

When I did a quick GB search I saw Evo's posted for $770 and the MPX for $1380. Thats almost double. TBH I didn't really search too hard for cheaper prices. |

You've been on this forum long enough to know and understand what is legal and what is not. Asking your LE/mil buddy to buy it on your behalf is a straw purchase and a felony. He'll lose his job, likely face a fine and or imprisonment as well as never being able to possess a firearm again. All that to save a $100. |

Right but the problem is the giant hole on the back of AR receiver that craps all that blowback in my face. My EVO SBR is a lot more fun to shoot suppressed than my AR SBR. Even with a gas busting charging handle or the silicone RTV mod and an adjustable gas block, it's a noticeable difference. Not to mention the buffer tube that is always there. Even with a folding receiver extension, I don't have the option of shooting with the stock folded like the EVO can. |

I've only found ways to reduce it. If there's a way to almost eliminate it, I'd love to know.

I have not done anything special with my 9mm ar with a 5" barrel and I get zero gas in my face. Indoors or out I can shoot extended sessions with no problems. I'm not sure why I have luck with it but it is easily as comfortable to shoot suppressed as my mp5s with roller bolts. As far as the mpx I've never shot one. |

I already have a 4" AR9 but will purchase an EVO soon. Here's why:
1. Cheaper. 2. Cheaper mags 3. SBR with tax stamp is the same cost as an off the shelf MPX (e.g. cheaper) 4. When shooting suppressed, the EVO had MUCH less blowback than my AR9 and a buddies MPX. |

I'm real convinced that the coolaid drinker MPX purists ( or how they act to me ) are buying the MPX because it costs more and they claim that means it's built better. IMO it's just another AR15 pistol. Not worth 1200$+ Anyway, The CZ will likely start winning competitions as well, the same way that M11's out-shoot MP5s. And, besides, I already have a 1500$+ 9mm AR15 which was more than the MPX, I dont need a second one. At least not yet. The CZ will be a much more fun project. Especially with factory folder.

Well, I definitely was no MPX koolaid drinker when I had plans to buy the EVO. After shouldering and fondling them in the store, I was converted to the MPX. I'm sure the EVO is a great gun, but I just didn't like it compared to the MPX. The mags are expensive, but I was not impressed at all with the EVO mags. I'm sure they're fine, but the Lancer MPX mags were quite a bit nicer - probably not 2-3 times nicer though
I am frustrated with Sig about the collapsible stock, the charging handle, and the Gen 1 uppers |
|
I've shot a full auto evo and I really liked it, so much so I've wanted one to SBR ever since.

After watching macs comparison video I think he made some real spot on observations. I will be going evo not because it's cheaper, but because I plan on turning it into a suppressed sbr and I can't stand getting my face blasted from a poor gas system.

I went Evo because even with the the stock and stamp it is the same price as just the mpx pistol without a stamp and stock. On top of that I can buy 3 evo mags for the price of a mpx mag. For $1,400 I can get a EVO with a stock, stamp, 6 mags and a few hundred rounds of 9mm. The MPX I can buy the MPX, stamp, and maybe a stock. No extra mags and no ammo. Plus I have enough AR platform stuff that I wanted something different which is also why I am waiting for the stamp to come back on my bren 805.

I simply didn't want yet ANOTHER AR15 in the safe. I gotta million of those already and a dozen lowers in there waiting for parts. The EVO Was different, does not look like an AR15 and the mags were cheap. For the complaints on the grip, those can be changed and are available to buy. For the complaints on the safely selector on the right side, you can delete that with a 19$ modification. Google it, you'll find the website to buy them. Mine needs a PA DOT, and a thread adapter for my MM9 can, and a front grip is all. Add the NFA stamp whenever that is approved and the 922 stock/parts kit and I think it'll be one of the most handy 9mm SBR's I've ever had to date. ....did I mention it does not look like an AR15? |
|
My 9mm AR pistol doesn't handle hollow points well, not sure if I'm going to keep it and get a Scorpion or sell it to fund the Scorpion.
