I was just wondering how many people use a SBR as their go to rifle, and if so do you have an additional upper for it?
What do you mean by "go-to"?
HD firearm? Or bug out bag? Zombie apocalypse? |
Multiple SBR'S and multiple uppers... 2 of them are ready to go.
Go to as in the first gun you pick up when you go plinking, classes, favorite to shoot.
Imo onegood quality upper will do thejob. Do guys in mil carry multiple uppers?
Multiple stamped lowers, multiple uppers
11.5" is my go-to HD and SHTF rifle |
My MSAR STG556 aug clone is shorter than my ptr91 .308.
MSAR is 26" just barely legal PTR91 sbr is 35" with an 8.5" barrel. Right now the sbr is my go to as i switch them out every so often. Oh, and i don't have any AR rifles at al. |
In EBR's, I have 8 SBR's and 2 non-SBR's. The extra upper I have is less than 16"
I have only SBR's at this point and my go-to is my Mk18. it's set up with a QD can as well should i feel the need :)
Being that this is about SBR's I was sure that most people would have been posting pics that go along with their answers, people usually like showing off their rifles.
I have one SBR lower and one 11.5" upper. It is not my "Go To" AR.
-My "Go To" is a pretty much stock 6920 Magpul edition. |
I SBRed every rifle receiver I have except one. And I just need to get around to doing it...
I have 3 sbrs and 5 <16" uppers. And several other ars that don't get shot anymore
I'll be the first to break the cycle, yes I have a SBR, no it is not my go to gun.
My go to is a 14.5" barrel with a pinned and welded PWS556 comp making it a algal 16.1 rifle. I've shot it a lot more and beat it more than any other AR I have and it hasn't failed me yet with any ammo. That is the one I would take with me anywhere should the need arise. |
My one true grab it first in any situation rifle is actually an M16 with a 12.5" upper. Maybe doesn't count, but along the lines of do other people trust in a SBR and what length, its probably relevant... I do have several SBRs in varying lengths. I think this upper would be my choice even without the M16 under it.

Two SBR's and Noveske 16". My Mega 11.5 build would have to be my go to; so to speak. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/WlbNIjlM_gGyo3F1s9mP6cO7gnQd3o1Qz8y36LKBftc=w2048-h1536-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Q1dZR_hIJTBc4HmGHPn06o4DLM8osH1T68enB6YqXWQ=w1152-h1536-no View Quote Whose rail is that on your Mega build? 7mm ETA. Rubbed the remaining brain cells together and googled mega arms and found the rail & upper. Nice looking but I have matched upper and lower building out my Noveske 10.5". Back to the drawing board. |

Thanks for the vote of confidence guys, I had a 10.3 barrel laying around and was debating on building another rifle with a receiver set that I already had. Decided to make my "go to" a SBR along with the upper pictured above, new rail is here and upper receiver is in route. Just need to file my form 1 now, which should be approved around the same time my suppressor stamp is approved.

I have two SBRs and a MG as go to rifles. The only time I don't have an AR with a less than 16" barrel as my go-to is when I'm working, then it's a 16" S&W M&P.

My 10.5" AR is the first one I reach for. It is suppressed, but I'm am eventually going to get a 14.5" upper for that lower as well and have sort of a "kit" when I want to switch.

I've got a 1-4x24 scope sitting in a box unused right now that would probably be good for the 14.5" upper. I've got an Aimpoint M3 on my 10.5". |

I have 4 SBR'd lowers and each one has its own upper and its own suppressor. No extra uppers right now....but anything is possible. Below are a couple of my SBR's with specs above the pics. I have two of the AAC 9" 300BLK SBR's. I use the black one for spraying cast lead bullets and the foliage trimmed one is dedicated to jacketed ammo. Then I have a 12.5" Noveske SBR (not pictured) that is currently torn apart and waiting for a new rail. The coyote brown one has lasted for years and been super tough. The foliage camo one started to "heat rot" after about a year. It never saw much use, just sitting in hot shop killed it. The coyote brown one was in the same shop and it still going strong years later. Not sure if it was a bad batch or the foliage camo process killed the strength of the material. |

11.5 in and silencer in gun room, 7.5in and silencer in bedroom. 20 in and heavy caliber bolt guns, within getting distance if longer shots are required.
