Whats out there?

I dont care to send business to Troy, plus, they seem overpriced.

Are there any other options for a collapsible MP / PDW style stock?

Ive seen the NEA, Troy and MVB.

Which is the better model, and are there any more options?

MVB Arc stock . Best IMO.

Uses standard BCG.

I really like my LWRC UCIW stock set. It's about two inches shortly than a sopmod and is priced very well compared to some of the other compact stocks on the market.

Those are the three that are 'out' on the market, but I'm sure more are coming as it's a new niche.

Define better - the Troy and NEA are kissing cousins with minor differences. I picked the Troy, as I liked the multi-positions, locking closed and easier to open/close setup.

The MVB is as expensive as the Troy (400 + BCG vs 500 all in) and is 3/4" longer.

The LWRC UCIW is a better way to take length off a rifle, has a real cheek weld and better feel on the shoulder. It also costs no more than a Magpul buffer/tube/spring/stock combo.

Drawback to the UCIW - doesn't look 'different' and is about 2" longer than the Troy/Nea and 1.25" longer than the MVB. Unless you need a rifle collapsed under 20" long (with a 7.5" barrel) I'd pick the UCIW.

(I have both a UCIW setup and a troy PDW built)

I dont think the troy can be used with 9mm can it?

Not that i have to have 9mm as I have an MP5 clone and a CZ scorpion.....

Not at this time, the proprietary carrier on the troy and nea isn't 9MM friendly.

LWRC.

I love me some SOPMOD, but LWRC stocks are light and compact. Plus they are really reasonably priced compared to other options.

LWRC is what you want. Light and compact.

FWIW, LWRCI Ultra compact is what I use.  It's certainly shorter than regular telescoping stocks, without being a really crappy stock.  Not impressed with the PDW type stocks to include LWRCI's stock - as stocks.  Shorter and handier when closed, but terrible for actual use.

Here is a UCIW next to a standard M4 stock for comparison:

As you can see I like the UCIW pretty well:

From top to bottom; 7" AR 5.7, 7.5" 7.62x39, 10" 5.56 with suppressor.

Took these a while ago... UCIW is a better 'stock' option, but the PDW stocks are unique, and can lead to SHORT SBRS.

UCIW vs STR

STR vs PDW

And for scale... if I was willing to put an A2 on the 7.5" it would probably be 20.3" or so collapsed

Those pictures are great thanks for posting.
It really makes me want a pdw.

Im assuming if you have a good running upper reliability isn't affected?

As long as it's a DI upper and you're willing to swap the bolt carrier, I don't see why it would impact reliability. I've seen video of a PDW stock on a FA receiver, which looked as fun as every other full-auto video.

A friend and I are designing a stock similar to the Troy and NEA stock, but it will not require a special BCG. Once we are past the prototype state I will post some pictures up.

DIfferent Upper, stock and optics, but same barrel and thread protector.  This is a small blast from 223, green tip will make the grass turn brown after several shots lol!

I'm in the same boat, but after seeing some pictures I think I'll be going with the PDW and try and find a barrel in the 9"-10" range if such a thing exists.

a 9" 5.56 barrel is hard to come by , around 10" there are a few choices.  there have been alot of colt 10.3" barrels in the EE lately.

noveske also makes the navy barrel in 5.56 , it's an 8.5" barrel.

here's a 9" barrel with an NEA stocked lower

I may have changed my mind. The MVB ARC stock looks slick. I don't mind s little extra length (that's what she said) if it means better cheek weld. Also being able to use an factory BCG is a plus along with being able to fire while collapsed.

How would the LWRC UCIW work on a PWS piston SBR? If at all?

Does anyone have a pic of the NEA stock fully extended next to a 6 position stock?

Yep - about a 12" LOP (just shy)

Album with STR/PDW/UCIW

Stock Album

The only update to that album - if you use the spendy LWRC QD attachment, it will work with the UCIW.

Awesome...  Thanks.  The album is a great reference.
