Hi Guys,

Is it possible to run a 7.5 barrel with a Specwar556 and also run a smaller diameter-than-specar 7 inch rail (Assuming that some rails aren't exactly 7 inches... maybe shorter).

Thanks!

Barely. 7" rail will cover about .2" of the threads on a 7.5" barrel.  if the suppressor fully covers the mount it won't work.

I use an 11" rail on a 11.5" barrel with my specwar. I had to use a gemtech 1/2 turn shim and had to file a slight area on the inside of my rail to get the clearance needed but it works fine now.
The shiny sections are the part I had to file slightly

How close it fits.

I have a 7.5 ar. it has a Specwar 5.56 mounted with a Troy 7.25 rail, took two full sets of shim washers to make it work. I don't recommend the combo.

by "two full sets" we are talking about 1/16 inch? maybe 1/8?

Also, if I get a true 7 inch rail will I be GTG?

PS -Can I see pics of yours?

I went with an 8" ballistic advantage barrel to avoid this issue.
