Can a suppressor be pinned/welded to a shortened barrel to avoid sbr classification?

I would possibly like to have my cyclone pinned/welded to an 8-9" blackout barrel...

It can be done.
The general consensus is that there's nothing good about the idea.

Why is this regarded as a bad idea?

Want to put your suppressor on another gun?  Can't.

That's the only real reason I can think of, but it's a pretty huge one.

It's a bad idea.  I'm too lazy to explain it, though there are probably an easy 5+ reasons NOT to.

Google the stop and see what you find.

I did mine. I love it with zero problems in many many rounds thus far. I paid $275 for my can I didn't see a down side. I'm less than $1000 into this and it runs like a champ. The only thing I'd change is start with a 16" barrel and cut down to 10.3" so it is less gassy.  My can can be taken apart from the front.  I agree there are reasons not to do it but if your circumstances are similar to mine with an unused thread on can and want to be able to travel with the gun, I think it is a great idea. I wish I had the griffin can though because it is much lighter and probably quieter than what I have.

Also, if something goes wrong with the suppressor, like a baffle strike or something, it probably won't be a pleasant experience dealing with getting it repaired.

I guess all the guys with integrally supressed rifles are screwed.

Why not spend 200 more dollars and wait 1 month. you will probably not want to have to buy another entire suppressor later on.

Buy once cry once.

But I guess of your state doesn't allow SBR's or something then that make since.
