I had read, in multiple places, that in the caliber section specific identification like "7.62x39mm" or "9x19mm" etc. should not be used because the F1 won't get approved if you do. Instead you were supposed to put "7.62" / "7.62mm" or "9mm". Definitely not true, the former is exactly what I used on my F1s...and they were approved on 9.12!

5.56 NATO approved Sept 1, 2014... no problem at all.

Were either of these eForms?  Because that's where the problem was/is.

Nope, paper forms. Many of the "how to" posts/threads/sites I used for my research didn't mention that it was eform specific... So I thought I'd toss out the info for anyone that was possibly misled by similar Google searches. :)

I wrote "5.56x45mm NATO" on my paper Form 1 and it was approved.

I put 300 blk on a paper one and 40 S&W on an electronic one, both approved this year.

Best Practice is to follow the directions and put caliber, often though putting cartridge gets through too.

I got an approved F4 that is unsigned. by FFL, but that does not mean sending it unsigned is a good idea.

My eForm was kicked back specifically for entering 7.62x39.  They wanted 7.62 only.  Cost me three days and an email to Ted C. to get it fixed.
