[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Where you buy a reasonably prices 10.5-11.5" upper?

I'm looking for something around $500 or less with bcg. Can't seem to find a spikes anywhere and PSA seems to be out of their 12" uppers.

Who else should I look for? I refuse to ever purchase another BCM.

Nothing, so far as I know, but this thread is also about cost. (edit: I see the OP had a bad BCM experience)

Just checking my receipt, I paid $319.95 for my 10.5 CHF upper, no CH or BCG, from PSA, and $499.95 for a complete 10.5 upper with the FN CHF barrel and premium BCG w/CH.

Aero Precision could be an option.

$52 Upper reciever (blem)
$125 BCG
$20 Charging handle
$170 10.5" barrel
$30 .750 lo pro gas block
$30 carbine gas tube
$10 A2 flash hider
$10 Barrel nut

$432, but you'll still need an upper parts kit, handguard and front sight.

Once upon a time I paid for a 14.5" pinned BCM. It was much more expensive than a comparative spikes upper and IMO offered zero benefit. It was actually one of the least reliable uppers I have owned. For that reason I won't buy another.

My PSA 10.5'' was $299 then added a BCG/CH/rear sight for $120.

They had them in stock at $319 a few days ago.

If you are patient and diligent you could build your own.
I found it to be a good learning experience and satisfying as heck pulling the trigger for the first time. And having it work properly !

Whats wrong with BCM?

Honestly i dont think you will ever find a complete upper for $500, at least not a quality one.

Assuming the cheapest you can possible go for each part...
Barrel $250
BCG $100
Hand guard $50
Front sight $25
Gas system $25
Flash Suppressor $10
Charging handle $25
Labor $50
Shipping $25

Total $550

A quality upper will cost way more, this is my Mk18...
DD 10.3" barrel $300
BCM BCG $175
DD mk18 rail $375
Flash Suppressor $25
Gas Block $35
Gas system $25
Ambi Charging handle $75
Shipping $25
Labor $0 (i built it myself)

Total $1035

Sign up for for Palmetto State's email alerts.. I bought two 10.5 inch uppers from them over the last year, at $300 or so each (minus BCG).

People who tape over the logos on their expensive uppers when they camouflage them will tell you that an FN barrel from PSA isn't as good as an FN barrel from Noveske, BCM or Centurion, but I'm very happy with mine.

Edited because they were 10.5, not 11.5

Yep, Just check daily! My CHF12" PSA upper was a steal compared to my BCM uppers.

Unfortunately, they don't have an 'email when back in stock' option. On the home page, about halfway down on the left they have a " Email Alerts... Enter Email Address Below to Receive Special Offer Alerts" box. That's what you want.

JSE Surplus has 3 different complete 10.5" uppers on their home page right now for under $500. I really like the 7" 9mm upper I got from them.

BCM is a company that gained success through marketing. Their products are no better than all of the other middle teir AR companies and they outsource most of their stuff anyway. If you have a rich dude that can afford to put a million dollars into marketing and ad campaigns its easy to get the publics attention with the (well it must be better) mentality. Travis Haley is a perfect example of that.

I remember it differently BCM came out with a reasonably priced good quality upper when there was nothing to be found.
