What scope to run on a 12.5" match grade barrel and match grade bolt setup with a 2-stage trigger?

Under $500.
No red dots.... no red dot combination with magnifiers, (I have that setup already).

Thanks.
I really like the idea of a shorter accurte shooter setup... but I would probably want more magnification than less.

Well, if you read around the forum, I believe the general consensus is Vortex.

I have a vortex pst 1-4x on my 11.5. Unfortunately I havent been able to get around to sighting her in, but I think they will be a good match. They have some on the EE for sale too I think.

I was looking into the SWFAs.. but that scope is nearly 13" long right... oh wait.. the 1-6x is not that big.

Yes you are correct.
Another member mentioned that and there is also 4-14x I believe coming too. Website says early May.

I'm loving the Burris XTR-14 on my RFB, you can still find the gen1 package on closeout, and SWFA will be getting more in soon.

I just want to make sure an avoid the tacti-cool look.
More magnification would be nice. I don't hunt.

Bushnell Elite 3200?

I need to go look at more scopes.

I am trying to take advantage of the sale.
Their fixed power scopes seem like that are honkin massive.

I ordered another 1-6 this morning. Great optic, never tried it on an SBR though.

I actually like the swfa 1-6 a lot more than my Leupold MK6 1-6

With a SBR, I would want near zero magnification in case of a CQB situation without having to add offset sights or other shite, but YMMV...

the spousal unit is running a Buirris MTAC, does well out to 300yds. I run an AR-332 on my sbr.  Had an ACOG TAO1-NSN prior. really nice optic, with my eyes the smaller eye relief was difficult to get use to.
They are SBR's how much magnification you need?

Same criteria, I took a look through a Vortex Viper, Burris MTAC, Millet DMS, and a few othe less expensive scopes.

The Vortex and Burris were clearer than the Millet.  The Vortex was ok but it felt slow for me during short range quick shooting. I was noticeably slower compared to a red dot.

The MTAC was much faster up close, not far off from a red dot, but looks like it would be a bit less precise than the Vortex because of the coarse crosshairs.  Have not tried it far out though and this being on an SBR I also biased my optic choice for close to medium range.

Depending on just how much magnification you want and budget this Vortex may be the ticket. 2-10 magnification in a pretty small package.

I have the Vortex Viper PST 1-4x24 on my 12.5" gun with a Giessele SD-C.  I really like this set up.  The Vortex reticle is great for close up and at distance.
