THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
I have both but not sure which one to put on. I'm going to be shooting 62 grain and up. I know 1:7 is good for 75-77 grain rounds but is it going to be terrible to shoot out of a 1:9? Also six months down the road it's getting the can mounted. The barrel is going on my 2nd urx ii upper with a leupold vxr. Opinions or experiences would be awesome!!

Also pros and cons of pencil barrel vs heavy. Thanks

If you know you are shooting 62gr and up, I'd go 1:7.

If you were doing 40-60gr for varmint hunting I'd go 1:9.

I would go with a government profile barrel or medium profile barrel, both are still lighter than the heavy barrel and thick enough to handle the weight of a suppressor. If you plan on shooting heavy bullets then yeah go 1/7 twist for sure. 1/9 is best for the standard 55-62grn bullets. But yeah the heavy profile barrel is just way too heavy for my tastes. While I like how light and handy the pencil barrel is, they have a more drastic POI shift with a suppressor.

I'm not sure how Spikes' "pencil" profile matches up to DD's "lightweight" profile, but I would recommend the DD 11.5" CHF. It is nice and balanced with a 10" MI rail.
