There's nothing particularly special about this one - it's a Mk18 Mod 0 that I tweaked here and there but the thing is that SBRs are just dope

It's a 5" 300blk. I call it the lil' bastard as it has all of the downsides of a 308 with none of the benefits!

Other than I want to swap the fore grip for a hand stop, and rattle can it, I think this rifle is finally where I want it.

Your pictures are just like mine.
Mine are taken, systematically, with my iPhone (iPhone 12 I think).

I do:

- choose the best well lit up spot right under windows (or glass doors)
- EDIT the picture with Lightroom.

A whole lot can be done for the pictures to look great - especially with today's iPhones granted the light source is strong (and the framing and subject are good, just as in your case!)

ETA - thank you so much for your kind words!

@NesralG

ETA2 - without your permission, hoping it's okay - simple example in minutes

That's impressive. I've looked at your pics over the years and would have guessed you're using a DSLR. I've got an iPhone 12 Pro Max and truthfully, I swear my previous iPhone 10 did a better job with photography.

You're right, light is everything, and using Lightroom gives you a ton of editing latitude.

None the less, job always well done sir!

My thoughts exactly, never would have guessed you shot with a phone.

I'm not an iPhone guy, I spend have my life crawling around/atop mechanical rooms and ductwork. I'm really good at destroying phones so I always buy one notch above jitterbugs lol

Functions 100% with a standard buffer. Will be putting a Strike Industries PDW stock on it as soon as it arrives.

Both of your rifles - but the top one specifically, are among the best looking (and much likely, functional) rifles I have seen of late.

That's because you are awesome and you've always been (it's great to bump into you at threads, always)

PS that's an ECOS ACOG - the actual one with NSN, military version. I just swapped the upper dot for a cheapo (that runs constantly outa battery lol) for I put the docter that came on it (temporarily) on the Elcan that sits on the Mk18

Sorry about this second, adjacent post!

Is that just rattlecan? If so interested in what you used. I know the edit changes the appearance a bit, but the color looks great!
I've had a few of the older ta01nsn's and one of them had a pre-100,000 serial no. with the raised nsn # on the side. I've been looking to get one back in the collection. Not in a rush which is fine since they don't pop up super often. I just finished piecing together a tano ta31 su237 ecos. The guy I got the optic from didn't have the optic plate or the peep. I got really lucky and found a guy with the exact parts I needed being sold along with an mrds kit. Found the parts only a month after getting the optic. What are the odds? I'll take a few pics of it finished and post it in a bit. Here it is before the rds mount.

I remember you showing yours recently (your ECOS) on the Mk18 thread;
Mine is the exact color you see it in these pictures - lighter than yours. I think mine is an early tano ta31 su237 ECOS; it dates back to many years ago. Not rattle canned and truly an anodized finish.

Wanted to sell it as some point years ago then it sort of became one of my most praised possessions (optics wise). Mine came complete with plate for the docter sight, the docter itself and a cool back-up sight rear-front iron sights that sits on the left of the optic itself, looking through the glass;

I am not at home right now but it's identical to this one shown here

Yeah, the original one I had was an early ser. no and had the lighter ano and the cap tether was a blue string.

When I was asking about paint, I was referring to this image here with the ta01nsn.

I didn't get a chance to get pics, but here is my older one. Yeah the guy I got the most recent one from sold the optic mount and the doctor, but lost the peep sight. I couldn't believe I found the exact replacement in about a month.

Here is the older one I had:

the earlier ones used string for tethering the caps. One of my favorite features about these optics are the turrets. They can be turned by hand and don't need a coin or a casing. Most acogs have the recessed slotted turrets.

Tried the MOE, CTR, UBR, and MFT Minimalist stocks. SL-K isn’t my favorite stock, but it feels right on this rifle.

I didn't have my lower on hand, but wanted to post an in progress mock up of my current project. Feedback is appreciated. Will take better pics with it mounted to the lower, but here is what l currently have. I'm thinking of possibly using a detachable carry handle for a rear sight.

Meuller m4 dog bone upper
Psa 7.5" .300 B.O.
Knurled handguard
RRA folding fsb
Griffin taper mount minimalist muzzle brake
Form 1 DM .300 BO suppressor

I got the email of shame from the ATF last week. My first SBR. Dug into the Big Box 'O Shit today. Slapped a LWRC compact stock, buffer tube, and buffer on it along with a Magpul VFG. Gotta test it out of course but I like it. Nice and tight.

It’s better, but I’ll probably need a newer can to make a real difference.
