How accurate are these? Any complaints? How's the recoil impulse (IE typical 9mm blowback or more like a Glock-with a-stock)? I'm torn between one of these, a 9x18 Skorpion, or a Glock-with-a-stock for my pocket SBR dream

Precursor to the 55x, the 54x. That is a Chilean licensed copy of the 543.

FAMAE in Chile licensed the SIG 54x design from SIG. They produce the 540 (18" 5.56), 542 (18" 308), and 543 (11" 5.56....what twyeh posted). They also made the SAF and mini SAF in 9mm, which are scaled down 54x straight blowback in 9mm. The 540 and 543 as made by SIG use a steel mag that looks similar to a 55x mag, but they are not cross compatible. FAMAE made their 5.56 lower use 55x mags.

Interestingly the 54x bolt catch is in the upper vs. the 55x where it is in the lower. The 54x lower may be used on a 55x upper, but there will be no bolt catch. The 54x bolt carrier also has a roller on the top rear that acts upon the top inside of the receiver analagous to the AUG bolt carrier roller.

Friend of mine shooting my 11" Mossberg MVP with the M4SD can off of it.  That single port Griffin brake is something else on the short barrel.

I know, I know.  He's got a funny grip and wears his shooting glasses like a weirdo.

Very nice!
I picked up a blued folder a while back, and plan to do the same.
Is the front sight from that guy selling repros on eBay, or is it original? I bought the repro.

I've liked the look of the AC556K since I saw John Travolta trying to kill Christian Slater with one in Broken Arrow as a kid.

Man, that did turn out real nice! I like how it retains its Romanian AK look.

On the red dot, all AKs look better without them, but they're a hell of a lot more fun to shoot with a red dot!

Again, thanks for your help. That stain was great to work with!

That is the Attero Arms "Bravo" mount, which has a rear sight notch machined into it, so the rifle still has irons.

The front sight is from eBay, yes. I do not believe it is OEM. Good enough for me however.

Same here.

Some guys on the Ruger forum said there is a height difference (compared to the original) which I think they said meant the rear sight had to be elevated higher in order to zero. Did you find this to be the case?

Yes.  I slightly had to move my rear sight up. Didn't know it was due to that.
