THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
I mailed all my stuff our back in March. check was cashed , called a couple weeks ago and it was pending . This was signed off my my CLEO and not in a trust . now after doing some reading it looks like the only way to have a SBR in IL is LEO, or reenactment group . Neither of which I belong to . Am I going to be the guinnea pig on this and hope it goes thru or am I going to get denied ?

Apparently there was a law passed that allowed SBR possession for reenactors, which also included C&R holders. So you should probably apply for a C&R.

Curious what the rationale of the CLEO was.

Thanks,
Good friend for starters , but to be honest with with you I dont think he knew about those particular rules , basically it is a pistol to SBR conversion and he already knew about the pistol I had from previous shooting outtings so signing off wasnt a issue with him as we know each other.

Read the statute, the language says that you must have both. There was prior wording that was going to be either or.

He said "Yes you did" I said "No I didn't" she said "Yes you did" then I said "Nuh uh" they said "Uh huh" then I said, If it is gonna be that kind of party I'm stickin my dick in the mashed potatoes.

I thought I had seen something where they fixed that. I checked and both houses of the legislature have passed the corrective bill but it's still waiting for signature. Passed with solidly veto-proof majorities, and was a democrat sponsored bill so doubtful it would be vetoed. Obviously someone with pull or $$ in the machine wants this bill. And the effects aren't something that will be very noticeable outside of the firearms community so it's not politically hazardous.

The language of the bill (presuming the correction gets passed) specifically addresses possession of an SBR. There is no mention of ownership. It would be interesting if ATF would allow a trust for ownership as long as the trustee/s have C&Rs. A trust can't hold an FFL.

^^^^^ This is going to be very interesting ^^^^^ with the trust / FFL thing . I would think as long as its signed off by your CLEO it wouldnt be a issue but then again it wouldnt be a trust either . And the whole reenactment / C&R thing is absolutely crazy also and I do not understand why its ok to own if you do reenactments or a C&R holder , its not a curio or relic ? Some of the stuff they come up with absolutely amazes me. 9 more yrs and Im outta IL . Waiting til my last kid graduates and were outta here :D

*I do not understand why its ok to own if you do reenactments or a C&R holder*

I'm sure someone with a little political pull, who does reenactments and wants to use a SBR curio & relic in his group got this going.
