THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
I haven't asked this question in quite a few years now, but it keeps bugging me so here goes.....again....basically I want to know since I'm hoping to retire soon and want to move to another state possibly

purchased a F/A bushy back in 1986 and around 1990 +/- I submitted 5320's to cross state lines with some of the toys for a MG shoot to attend.

one of my registered M16's 5320 came back with a post-it note (still have it actually) that had hand-written " Serial # xyz not found"

so ATF was saying to me that they lost their copy of my Form 4 I assume? I never re-submitted a 5320 since I haven't crossed state lines with it

anyway, should I let sleeping dogs sleep, or should I try re-submitting a 5320 again to test the waters?

if I do test the waters, should I include a copy of the original Form 4 with the 5320 request?

ETA - and what IF the sob's have actually lost their record of my Form 4?

Your case is a perfect example why the registry should be opened again!

BATFE claims their records are 100% accurate. Bullshit!

nothing is 100% accurate and anytime human beings are in charge of something... Murphy's law is always present. I thought about contacting my state senator for assistance back in the day as a nephew of mine worked for him, but never got around to it. looking back, I probably should have....

Next time you submit a 5320.20 for that one, send in a photocopy of your Form 4 with it.

A data entry person probably fat fingered your serial number when entering it into the searchable database. I'm sure your info is there, but they might have to correct your serial number in their records.

If it were I, I'd just call the ATF and check. You have the original Form 4 to back you up, so no worries.

I recently had a Mini-Uzi go into problem status, saying the barrel length was incorrect. Thing is, this gun is NIB, and has had exactly two transfers prior to this: Vector (mfgr) to a C3 dealer, and from that C3 dealer to mine. The only chance it would have ever have had to be of a different length was when Vector bought the fullsize Uzi and converted it to a Mini in the 80's...but the F2 they filed should have shown the proper length, as did the two F3 transfers ATF approved.

The issue is that if this is a transferable Vector Mini-Uzi that is a machinegun than Vector didnt file the F2 as they didnt make the receiver, Group Industries did.

When they cut the full size up up in the early 2000s to turn it into a Mini-Uzi they may have amended the F3 they submitted with the new barrel length and nobody in the NFA Branch back then when it was in WDC cared. Now-a-days the NFA branch is all puckered up over changes from the original F2 after some unscruplous dealers slowly modded Macs into Thompsons by slowing making changes to the F3s descriptions over time.

You probably need to figure out what the original barrel length was on the F2 Group submitted (I bet the folks at Uzitalk could tell you or contact Vector as they probably know as well) and resubmit the Form 4 with the original F2 specificed barrel length and put in the added information section that it is now a Mini-Uzi current barrel of xyz inches.

Alternatively you could continue to fight with the NFA branch that a permanent barrel length change has been done and to update their records.

Ah, thanks for clarification. That does make more sense (Group doing the F2, and then it slipping by on all three F3's including the one to Vector).

My dealer's already filled out the paperwork the examiner requested, so hopefully we'll be golden soon.

I have 7 weapons right now that they can not find their own approved form 4's for. Tell me that isn't a problem. I have gotten no less than 4 requests for forms from NFA branch asking if I had forms to show I owned an item (I was transferring it to a customer and they said I did not own it that the MFG still did) over the last 7 years. Tell me this is not a problem.

Nice I talked to DLO, and he said the ATF still thinks he has 50 to 80 more MGs then he really does
