Has anyone ever use epoxy putty for filling in rollmarks? I'm thinking quiksteel or maybe milliput superfine would be easier. I plan on rattle canning it afterwards.

I don't think Milliput or the other artist grade 2 part putties are very heat resistant. I use Aves all the time and they have a product called Fixit that claims to be good to 500F.

But stuff like JB weld is really coarse, so you may not get an invisible repair.

I think the best thing to to do is just try it and shoot it.

Interesting!
Have you had any experience with quiksteel?
It's for an AR so I'm not too concerned about temperature - more concerned with adhesion after banging it around.

Lauer Durakote make a special filler for filling defects in guns prior to coating.
You might try that since it's made for that purpose.

Ah, that looks great except it requires an airbrush and sanding.

Degrease and use metal auto body filler.

A tube type one should be enough material without buying a can of Bondo.

Apply paint.
