Buy rail blanks from Brownell's, then find someone to machine the mounting profile you want.
Rails from scratch at a small shop will be expensive, and there is no reason to go to that trouble. |

Which handguard? There is probably something available off the shelf or requiring only minor modification.

I have scoured the internet for anything with no joy. Handguard The picatinny rail blanks I can find are not true MIL-1913 spec or are just extrustions. I thought about going the extrusion route, but by the time you mill the T-slots it's not much more effort to mill the entire thing. |

Do you understand that the slots in a metal rail made from extruded stock are machined? The cross section might have clean up machining to insure the dimensions are correct. The work and set ups to machine the cross section from bar stock is certainly greater than machining the cross slots with the correct width and spacing.
The dimensions will certainly be sufficient for a cosmetic application. If you catch someone with a caliber near your gun, hide it in the case. I'm really curious about the reason you believe the extruded stock sold by Brownell's does not meet MIL-STD-1913. |

Did you look at EGW? They make rail sections up to 32" long.
http://www.egwguns.com/extrusion/drops/ If you call them, they'll sometimes make you exactly what you want. |

Thanks for the advice, this is exactly what I was looking for. I made up some CAD drawings and sent them to EGWGuns. They said they'd take a look and see if they could manufacture them. |
