I saw a thread, or post somewhere on arfcom a while back where a guy had polished aluminum so shiny it looked like chrome and he said he used a cloth and some brand of mag wheel polish. I can't remember the brand though. Has anybody done this and what did you use? I would like to polish 1911 frames and a raw forged ar lower.

I polished my front forks on my Harley from raw aluminum by using PB Blaster & wet & dry sand paper.
Started with 220 grit, went all the way to 1500 grit. Then seal it with Meguiar's Pontoon Protectant.

Shines like chrome, lasts all summer long. Then in the winter I use the Meguiar's to keep it looking bright.

Flitz metal polish to get it most of the way there, and then Mothers Mag polish to get the last bit for a mirror finish.
