I want to inlay a small badge into a set of 1911 grips.  I'd like to remove the Ruger emblem and then cut/ mill out the area to accept the badge.  Anyone know someone that can do this?  I could try it myself but little queasy about it coming out wrong.  Thanks.

I've done it.  Anyone who has been working on blackpowder rifles can.  The rifles of the Federal Period went away from relief carving and silver wire inlay and inlays became popular then.

One of my teachers is Jack Brooks in Northern Colorado. We went to a museum and he was telling us about a rifle there that he had restored.

Ask there. Quite a few talented folks there. Just make sure you research them before you proceed to prevent getting a novice who doesn't have a lot of experience.

Round objects are pretty easy.
Forstner and brad point bits cut cleanly.

You need GOOD brad points with real cutting spurs.

Get the closest size that is larger than the inlay.
