Would like square and flat files with unfinished sides. IE sides that don't remove  material.

Brownell's sell some, and you can buy them from most jewelery supply houses.
Most of the jeweler's sizes will be smaller sizes, often no more then 6 inch cut.

One of the most useful types is the Hand file.  It's parallel on both sides and the edges.  In other words, unlike most files it has no taper.
A narrow version is the Pillar file.
At least one edge is always a safe edge, sometimes both are smooth.
If you need both, simply grind the cutting teeth off the other surface, keeping the file cool.

Go to page 183 for Grobbet Swiss Hand files.  These are recognized as the best files in the world.
They ain't cheap.

Brownell's sell mostly American cut files.  Not as good as Swiss but a lot cheaper.
They sell Hand, Pillar, Narrow Pillar, and Extra Narrow Pillar files.
