I'm building a dedicated 22LR upper and have installed the ejection port gas deflector.  Now the upper will not fit in my receiver blocks for the barrel install.  Do I have to chop up and modify the blocks or just remove the deflector and reinstall after I install the barrel?  It looks like installing the gas deflector/dust cover after the barrel is in place would be a PITA.

It kinda is...I've had to do that on 9mm uppers - but what Dano523  told you is spot on.

Thread a smaller piece of wire through the clip and wind the wire tightly on to it. The wire will help you pull the clip off and also hang onto it so it does not go sailing across the room. (You might have to start the clip off in order to get the wire underneath it)
