I was looking at this stuff:
Atomic Ammunition 147gr

Says 900fps but doesn't specify barrel length. I've got a standard evo pistol. Anybody had luck with a good defense round staying subsonic out of a longer barrel (8-10")?

Anything 147 grain hollow point should work well. I'd probably go with Federal HST

Most 147gr loads should stay subsonic with any length barrel.

I seem to remember a recent velocity study that indicated that was not the case from a 16" bbl.

There's not a single commercial 9mm load that stays subsonic from a 16" barrel

Ironically, it will still be REALLY QUIET because of the super low pressure at exit (regardless of supersonic crack)

158 gr PPU is subsonic in a 16" bbl.

Only factory load that I've found that is.

I tested several different 'subsonic' loads through a multi-mount suppressor on a Scorpion (7.75" barrel) and an Uzi SBR (10.25" barrel) a few years back. Didn't have a chronograph with me at the time, so I was only judging by 'lack of crack'. The only factory rounds that I recall staying subsonic in both lengths of barrel were the Silver Bear 145gr JHPs, the Federal 147gr HSTs, and the Fiocchi 158gr FMJs.  ...I didn't have any of the PPU 158gr FMJ ammunition at the time, but I am sure they would have stayed subsonic too.

-If I had to go with a subsonic for defense from a carbine length barrel, it would be the 147gr HST, for sure.

HSTFTW. If it goes super at 16", that's just one more excuse to SBR.
