According to their website all of their products have a lifetime guarantee. So it would appear that if you run it til it dies, they will bring it back to life.

I like it.

How does the system cope with increased backpressure from suppressor use?  I have an approved form 1 just itching to be an integral on something like this.

Since people like to tinker and tune we offer a carrier weight kit that incudes 1oz, 2oz and 3.5oz weights. These are for use with suppressors or +P loads

There is a pistol variant.

My LGS should be getting me one from AccuSport soon.

I think .45 and 10mm versions would do well in the market against the Kriss platform. IMO, the Kriss brings a coolness factor with it...looking futuristic and having the function/action that it does. However, the Guard offers AR functionality in a factory built setup. I think that to be a plus for PD's and shooters that do not build their own and want the same manual of arms as the regular AR platform.

Is the buffer a standard carbine buffer or something heavier?

Have you tried any of the shorter PDW stocks?

What's the shortest barrel you've tested with this bolt system?  I would think you could go pretty short with it.

The 8" in the shortest we have fully tested.  Even with much shorter barrels, the system works great with the limited testing we have done.

I ask because I wouldn't mind building another upper for my bufferless .45 SBR, possibly in 10mm, and possibly with your RDB system instead of DI as it is now.
It does start to get a little sluggish after 500-600 rounds, as you said is the issue with DI, unless I run special "clean" powder loads.

I'd be curious if it could be tuned to run with the even lighter carrier weight of a bufferless system...

Man I gotta stop reading these forums.  There's another $2k (when all is said and done) I'm going to have to spend sometime early next year.

I'm a sucker for new and interesting designs like this, and already invested in .45ACP with my USP.  Would prefer maybe a 6" barrel but 8" is good too.

I'm enthused to read that it recoils less than a blowback 9mm.

I bought a CMMG .22 kit that's very impressive, the Guard looks to continue the experience :)

Not sure how adaptable it would be to rifle rounds due to the much higher chamber pressure (and bolt thrust) coupled with slower powders...
The bolt would be rotating while the case pressure is still high, and you may need a fluted chamber like an HK roller lock.

Also keep in mind that the rotating bolt driving the carrier to the rear with the cam slot is going to put a good bit of force on the side of the gas key (and inside of the upper receiver track) until it unlocks.  The rotational forces on the carrier are reversed when compared to DI/piston, I have no idea what the relative magnitude would be. That would depend on the carrier mass, bolt lug angle and cam pin track angle.

Ford spent about the same amount of money to bring the Taurus to market as it cost to develop and built the F-117 Stealth fighter. Only 123 or so F-117's were built so they didn't have many to spread the R&D over. Meanwhile Ford as sold millions of the Taurus models so the per-unit cost of development gets pretty small.

And people wonder why nobody will buy American cars anymore

The ammount of r&d to build a low radar signature plane with tech from the 70's and early 80's that is the equivalent of flying a brick, vs a turd of a car that was in no way innovative at at all. Way to go ford!!!!  I had a 90 mercury sable - same car, and it was a run of the mill p.o.s.  I get your point about r&d spread out into production unit cost, I just never realized how much ford spent on that shit.

I'm really interested in a 9mm, but not at all interested in a Glock compatible lower.  Did you say these will run on a colt pattern lower?

That would be an MP5 killer; if it had the same firing impulse and recoil characteristics as an MP5, with last round bolt hold open and AR modularity.  Do want.

First off, I am so disappointed with how little information there is about this system from actual owners.  There is piles of hype when this was announced and released in the end of April and started shipping the end of May.  But other than the guys that got the guns from CMMG for evaluation, I have not seen anything in this thread and the other two here from actual owners.  I called CMMG and spoke with Bryan in Technical support about this system and the M47 Mutant.  He said the Guard 45 would run in full auto, but that the M47 had to be modified.  The M47 is a "no go" anyway as the upper and lower are a hybrid between a AR-15 and an AR-10.  So just as with the AR-10, the receiver could be modified to run my DIAS, but the AR-10 is not an AR-15, so the AR-15 conversion device would not be legal to use in it.

There seems to be plenty of these Guard 45 guns in stock for a number of dealers.  Apparently, since this is a new product, no parts are available.  So I could not buy a barrel and a bolt group.  Complete uppers are not even available.  If you want one, you have to buy the complete firearm.  The least expensive Guard 45 pistol I could find is at Bud's for $1,057 shipped.  I have absolutely no interest in the lower that uses Glock mags.  I like to compete in Subgun matches.  The Kriss mag extension only makes Glock mag/Kriss extension to 25 rounds capacity.  Most "stock" division limit in the subgun matches limit capacity to 30 rds.  So with 25 rd mags, that puts me at 20% less ammo per mag.  I have one of Ron's early DI 45 uppers.  It shoots so much softer than 9mm Colt system.  Problem is, it barely runs.  The mag is in the middle of the magwell.  The bolt will come back far enough to strip a round from the mag, but not far enough to lock the bolt back on an empty mag.

Speaking of mags, I have a custom MGI magwell.  I had a smith convert an early standard MGI magwell (they had extra thick walls in the magwell) with a modified Colt style magwell block.  The front and back halves are screw mounted to the magwell.  The magwell conversion uses modified Thompson mags.  Think of how an Uzi mag is converted for the Colt 9mm system.  The conversion even activates the bolt hold open feature.  I'm hoping to put that lower with the Guard 45 8" upper.  I'll check back in with a range report once I shoot it.  I'm hoping the 230 gr bullets with knock down steel and make bigger holes in paper so I can see them, but have lower recoil like my DI 45 upper.  Time will tell.  The gun has been ordered and paid for.  Hopefully it will ship soon.
