I already have a 16" Thompson with the finned comp and would like to SBR. What's the easiest way to SBR it? Buy a factory barrel and have a smith assemble it or is that something I can do?

Yes a factory 10" bbl. but a Thompson smith will have to do the work for you if you do not have the proper barrel fixture  and upper fixture.  The barrel is not easy to get off.  You will then have to index, drill and pin the Cuts Compensator as they were press fit on not threaded and that is after the barrel is properly head spaced.
