Next up in my collection is a suppressor..  My dealer is telling me to get a .45 osprey as I can use it on my 9mm AR, SPP, multiple 9mm handguns I registered as assault weapons (so I could have threaded barrels.)  My question is what can I get in 9mm/.45 that's preban?  I'm even thinking pistols... Like an older 1911, Uzi carbine, Calico, Gen 1 Glock etc etc....  I would love a pre 94 45acp carbine but not much is coming to mind.. Thompson??

Marlin camp 45 and camp 9 were both avail before the ban.

Well, for one thing, your dealer is an idiot. If he can't tell the difference between a .45 (21,000 psi) and a .308 (55,000 psi) you need to get a different dealer. Different supressors for different guns.

Say what????  He suggested using a .45acp suppressor for a 9mm, not a .308...  Where did you see 7.62x51 or 308?

You need a chrome plated tec-9 with a big fat Mac can!  On a serious side, either a 9mm or 40 cal osprey should do you fine. If you want a rifle can, get a 30 cal can.

Now that brings a similar question.  Does a 30 cal can work on 5.56 rifles?  The majority of my collection breaks down 12 guns in 5.56, 4 in 7.62x39, 2 in 308, 9 in 9mm, and 2 in 54R.  I won't ask about .22lr because I will being buying a can in .22 no doubt.

Oh and there is NO way I would buy a Tec-9 especially chrome plated. I was upset they built my custom AR-10 with a dimpled med "stainless" barrel (I'm going to have it duracoated black) LOL

My bad. I thought he said one supressor for everything. Not one for handguns and one for rifles. But yeah, the .308 silencer SHOULD work for the .223.

Would it also work on the Ak's 7.62x39?  I can't remember ever seeing sub-sonic ammo for an AK or my VZ-58

Perhaps a DI45 upper with an HK USC Magwell adaptor .....uses promag HK USC mags available in 10, 15 and 20 round capacities......it will run on an already owned standard AR15 lower.

Hell yeah.  I really like that idea.  I would be stuck with the 10rd mags, but could live with that.

I'd skip anything direct blow back for suppressor use.  That DI45 upper sees like a cool option.  I wonder if a 9mm could be run DI?

Ron Williams was working on a 9mm DI. From what I recall it was a very sensitive device as you don't have a lot of gas to work with. SpecOps13 and
Ron are on her and can tell you more.

The main reason I started working with pistol caliber carbines was powder burns to the face when I shot a friends 9mm suppressed SBR AR.....
KNEW their had to be a better way....

With factory ammunition I don't see the DI 9mm as a commercially viable solution.....but applaud the work Ron has done with the platform for those who are dedicated reloaders.......

Could you do a M9/FS92 in a RONI stock or would a current F1 SBR make it no longer a preban?

My 45 osprey is between atf land and approval.  I went 45 so i could utilize it on all pistol calibers we have.
Out of curiosity. Does a threaded bbl lever action constitute an assault weapon in CT?  there are no evil features like detachable mag, p/grip etc. reason i ask. Threaded my Rossi 92 in .357. EVERY bolt and lever 22 is threaded. Why not look in a different direction and start suppressing lever & bolt actions. Not only fun to shoot, they're a great conversation piece. What the hell is that? russian TOZ with TAC65

Yeah, a lever action in .44mag would be pretty sweet with a suppressor.

I hear ya. I got an upper from Rudy. Put it on my SBR lower and use my tirant on it. It's pretty sweet. 10.5" barrel with a 15" rail. Can slips right in.

We are making a fixed piston for the Tirant now in 5/8 x 24...... ;-)......just pull the piston and spring ....replace with the fixed piston and shoot on a 45 or a 300 Blackout or pretty much anything with a 5/8 x 24 muzzle.........Quiet Riot in McDonough Ga is gonna be the primary outlet for them..........and we are working on a fixed piston for the Tirant 9
